As a health care professional, it is important to understand that all post-acute care providers are different. At CareVirginia, we pride ourselves on unique services and features that translate to a better overall experience and better clinical outcomes for your patients.
What makes CareVirginia unique?
Call bell tracking—CareVirginia tracks call bell response times in every center daily, by shift and unit. CareVirginia created this program exclusively and is the only company that offers this technology. Ninety-five percent of call bells are answered within five minutes or less.
Seven-day-a-week therapy—All CareVirginia centers offer physical, occupational and speech therapy services seven days a week.
Non-agency nursing—All CareVirginia nursing staff members are employed by our centers. We do not use contract agency nurses in any center.
Non-contracted therapies—CareVirginia does not contract out our therapy programs to an outside agency. Our programs are internally managed, and therapists are employees of CareVirginia.
Positive outcomes—Ninety-one percent of all CareVirginia sub-acute patients return to their previous living situation upon discharge, one of the highest rehab-to-home return rates in the country. (Source: Cassamba Outcomes Tracking System, 2011)
A wide-ranging service area—CareVirginia has full-time hospital liaisons in more than 30 hospitals in Virginia representing CareVirginia centers throughout Virginia. For long-distance referrals, there’s a good chance a CareVirginia center is located in or near the location/community of preference. No sub-acute provider can offer the geographic scope of services that CareVirginia offers.
Distinct sub-acute units—All CareVirginia sub-acute programs are located in dedicated units that are distinct from our long-term care units.
Forty years of health care experience—The CareVirginia family of care centers has been operating sub-acute and long term care facilities for more than 40 years, making CareVirginia one of the most experienced health care providers in the state.
Family owned and operated—CareVirginia is a privately owned, Virginia-based company, not a publicly traded company.
Next Step Home program—CareVirginia’s internally developed and standard-setting Next Step Home Program is unique to our company. The program features initial family and patient care meetings within 72 hours (the industry norm is within one week); pre-discharge home visits by a therapist; community reintegration before a patient’s discharge; and a company-developed patient education library for more than 50 diagnoses incorporated into our primary nursing care model.
Silverchair learning system—All CareVirginia staff are required to participate in our online education platform, Silverchair. Our employee education program allows us to stay ahead of the industry by requiring clinical education and mandatory training to improve skills.
Nurse educators—Each CareVirginia Center employs a full-time RN Educator who is responsible for ongoing staff in-servicing to improve core clinical competencies (i.e. infection control, medication management accuracy, pain management and palliative care education, etc.).
Evening Managers—As part of the CareVirginia “Night Owl” after-hours administrative management program, an Administrative Manager is on duty every evening until 8 p.m. for meeting new admissions, service recovery and assisting clinical staff in problem solving.
Continuum of care—CareVirginia is one of the few post-acute providers who offer short-term sub-acute care, long-term care, assisted living, respite care and assisted living for people living with Alzheimer’s and related dementia. Our continuum of care is intended to offer our customers whichever level of care they need.
Fast-track admissions guarantee—CareVirginia offers our referral sources a commitment to a one-hour turnaround from referral to admission answer.
Patient Ambassador Program—In this CareVirginia-developed customer service program, a group of patient rooms is assigned to every department head in our centers. The Patient Ambassador is required to round every day on their designated patients to ensure all needs are met and to resolve any issue that may arise. A daily report is generated to the CareVirginia center Administrator highlighting the outcomes of the Ambassador rounds.
State-of-the art environments—CareVirginia’s signature hotel-like settings were created to provide an uplifting, non-institutional patient experience while in recovery. For families who cannot tour our centers before making a decision on their sub-acute stay, all CareVirginia centers feature a virtual tour on our website for viewing.
Because We Care hotline—CareVirginia offers patients and families 24-hour access to a customer service hotline should any needs arise that require attention. We offer this hotline to ensure that patients and families have access to our company to assist with any and all questions and concerns.
NJ Hospital Association Member—Most sub-acute and long-term care companies are members of the long-term care association. CareVirginia has elected membership with the NJ Hospital Association to ensure our clinical and administrative teams have access to the latest clinical educational seminars focused on high-acuity patients, and to ensure that we are in a position to respond quickly to the needs and initiatives of the hospital community.
Physician Services—CareVirginia offers primary care medical coverage, rehabilitation medical coverage and a broad range of physician specialists at all of our locations. Many centers offer on-site specialists in cardiology, nephrology, orthopedics, oncology, podiatry, pulmonology and other specialties for the convenience of our patients.
